I have been a bit of a cleansing buff recently as I’ve really notice a difference in taking the time to *really* remove all the make up and grime from my skin. In all honesty I have been so tired lately I have used products rather ineffectively and rushed the whole process. Using a flannel helps of course regardless of what cleanser I have decided to use (I have foam, oil, lotion, cream etc.) but spending extra time massaging the cleanser in really helps getting the skin clean of course.
I have been looking for good cleansing balms for a while. I like quite heavy feeling balms that wash off without too much trouble, I don’t like ones that call themselves balms but melt down so quickly into thin oily substances that they may as well just be a cleansing oil (this is particularly common with Asian cleansing ‘balms’).
That’s not something you have to worry about with Balance Me’s Cleans and Smooth Face Balm Cleanser.
This cleanser is good for normal to dry skins that can also be sensitive. It is 100% natural and is oil based with a luxurious rich feel.
The cleanser also contains anti oxidants like Arctic Cloudberry, fine oat powder, and active extracts, like kukui nut, reshape oils, mango and shea butters etc that really dissolve make up. It cal contains camomile and red mandarin essential oils which gives in a nice citrusy scent although its worth remember that if you have sensitivity to essential oils you should test this product first.
It comes in a tube which is far more hygienic than a jar! Because unless you have the energy to use a spatula every time…which clearly I don’t…its a germs paradise!
You get a muslin cloth with this but I don’t really like them, I find them too thin so I just use my cheap-o flannels instead with cleansers.
This cleansing balm is a really nice rich and oily texture which is nice to massage in to the skin. I didn’t experience any dryness or adverse reactions to it, thank fully, although my skin is quite sensitive.
In terms of taking off my make up, this did a good job. My eye make up – mascara specifically – is bomb proof and always requires a separate cleanser no matter what (that’s Japanese mascara for you). Aside from that, this cleanser had no issues removing foundation, and lip stick etc. It left my skin feeling soft and cleansed. I didn’t really feel like I needed to cleanser twice after using this but of course many people do.
As far as cleansing balms go, I really like this one and it’s not an unreasonable price at all for what it is. I prefer it to any of the other cleansers I have acquired recently too so I hope it lasts me a while!
