Happy Monday everyone!
Starting the week off with a little review of some products I received from House of Fraser to try. I chose two products which I’ve wanted to try for a while – MAC Lightful Tinted Cream SPF30 in Medium and a NARS Audacious Lipstick (my first one!) in Catherine.
Why these two? Well, there isn’t any make up I could possibly *need* so I chose things that I’ve wanted to try for a while and would actually be useful rather than some whacky product.
MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream with Radiance Booster (£26)
I have quite a few MAC base products, I think it’s because I know I can always get a match with a NC35.
Rightful however does not use the traditional shade names, they come in ‘Light’, ‘Medium’, ‘Medium Tan’ and so on. I went for ‘Tan Beige’ with the hope that it wouldn’t oxidise on me.
I already knew that this tinted cream is very sheer – it is essentially a tinted moisturiser which will reduce only minor imperfections (from reading other reviews). I do like to cover redness and small problems on my skin but on a day to day basis, I don’t see the point of wearing make up if I am chilling out with the kids so this was perfect. I like the high SPF of 30 too.
Here is the base. It certainly looks opaque but it is pretty sheer on. It covered none of my freckles or marks, it sort of evened things out slightly and made my skin look quite glowy and some of the redness. For the propose of just feeling more “with it” it is great but I would choose something with more coverage for say, going out, a formal event of if I wanted spots and what not covered. But for every day easy breezy, popping to the local shops – it’s fine.
Tan medium is right for NC35 I would say.
I used to be dedicated to NARS 100% but my interest has wained recently. This is my first Audacious lipstick (£24) and it didn’t disappoint me. The packaging has changed to a sleek plastic THANK GOD the rubber was awful, and the creamy texture, pigmentation etc. – glorious.
It’s quite hard to choose a shade as there are so so so so so many. I went for something I don’t already have – Catherine which is a orange beige. One swipe – so pigmented:
I am wearing both products here.
Although Catherine is very orange and there are days I feel like it is too much so, I do love it for it’s face brightening properties – it makes me look more tan and more awake too.
I love the healthy finish it doesn’t dry my lips like the old NARS lipsticks used to.
Although I am not on the market for another lipstick like this I wouldn’t be disappointed one if I got one as a gift for example – I don’t think any make up lover would be.
I put some powder foundation on top to even out the skin, the tinted cream does cover little, I must emphasise this but those with good skin already will enjoy it’s glowing, radiant finish.
Check out make up at House of Fraser here – I like that they have brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford etc. that are not easily accessible elsewhere.
